Details:

I met Captain Stallings when I was TDY to the 337th RR CO while the 409th Detachment was at the Long Binh staging area. Captain Stallings was killed by a claymore mine while returning from a PRD1 site, I was told. The Sargeant that was with him dragged him from the M151 to cover, not knowing that Captain Stallings was all ready dead. An ARVN unit behind them said that they received small arms fire from the trees. The driver lost his right leg and the Sargeant received a Silver Star for his actions.

Yours,
David N. McDonald
